RPS: House of Night

Rachel Velez, Night has chosen thee; thy death will be thy birth. Your destiny awaits you, at the House of Night!

That was the last thing I remembered as a normal human being. I was in the book store, listening to my iPod when this dude arrived, silver spiral on his palm, looking almost completely dead. He said that phrase, tapped my forehead with that hand, and left me to faint.
I woke up, still in that same spot [thankfully, I fainted on a beanbag chair]. I thought almost nothing of my encounter with this man earlier until I noticed other people at the bookstore staring at me. What? They never saw someone faint before? Although, I'm guessing they probably have not. Even so, why are they staring?
I start to get a headache so I had you the restroom to splash some cold water on my face. Looking on the mirror, I didn't know to be amazed or scared at what I saw: I saw me, alright, but on my forehead was the outline of a blue crescent. I just stood there, starting at my reflection. I knew what this meant: I would soon be on my way to a House of Night. But, that only exists in books, right…?
So of course, I call my mother about this. Being the Baptist she is, she refuses to believe that her perfect little girl got Marked. Her boyfriend, however, didn't mind as much, and is rather happy that this is happening. Okay, not so much "happy", but moreso on the lines of confident that I'll be able to make this big step on my own.
Within a few days, I get my belongings packed and we make our way upstate to the closest House of Night to us in New York: the former sight of Trinity Pawling, midway in between New York City and Albany. I say my goodbyes to my family and friends, and make my way inside, starting the first chapter of my new life…
